Journey
Description:
According to an attestation made before the Admiralty of St Pierre, Conte and his crew left the River of Bordeaux on March 27th intending to sail straight to Martinique; however, they encountered a spell of bad weather which made the crew "force" Conte to put into the next harbour available. This harbour happened to be Gran Canaria where they arrived on 2 May and left on 6 May 1744, finally arriving on Martinique on 30 May (see HCA 32_0156_021_SP0001_0058 for further info).
